Submit the apostille request form and provide the document type, issuing state or agency, destination country, deadline, and current location of the original document.
2. I Review the Document
I review a clear scan or photograph for common apostille processing problems and confirm whether the document appears to require a California apostille, federal processing, another state’s apostille, or additional embassy or consulate legalization.
3. Send or Deliver the Original
You may ship the eligible original or certified document to my Burlingame office. Local document pickup may also be available in San Mateo County and nearby areas.
4. Processing Is Completed
I coordinate submission to the appropriate state or federal authority based on the document and destination country. Standard and priority options may be available.
5. Receive Your Completed Document
Once processing is complete, I can provide a digital scan and arrange secure domestic or international return shipping.

Appointments should be requested at least two hours in advance whenever possible. Prepayment may be required to confirm an appointment or begin apostille and record retrieval services.

How do I get an apostille in California?
The correct process depends on who issued or notarized the document and the country where it will be used. California-issued and California-notarized documents are generally submitted to the California Secretary of State, while federal documents and documents issued by other states follow different procedures.
I can review a clear copy of your document for common processing issues and explain the administrative steps that appear to apply.
How quickly can I get a California apostille?
Standard and priority processing options are available. My standard California apostille service is generally completed in approximately five to seven business days. Priority service is generally completed in one to two business days after the document is ready for submission.

Turnaround may vary based on the document, issuing authority, government closures, destination country, and any corrections required before submission.
Do I need to live in California to use your apostille service?
No. I assist clients throughout the United States and internationally with eligible California documents. You may ship the original or certified document to my Burlingame office, and I can return the completed document domestically or internationally.
Do you provide both notarization and apostille services?
Yes. If a document requires notarization before apostille processing, I can perform the in-person notarization within my mobile service area and coordinate the California apostille.

The signer, document preparer, attorney, or receiving authority must determine whether the document requires an acknowledgment, jurat, or another notarial act.
Can you retrieve a California birth certificate or court record?
I provide certified record retrieval from qualifying California county and court offices when third-party retrieval is permitted and the applicant meets the issuing agency’s eligibility and authorization requirements.

Some agencies require the eligible applicant to submit the request personally or have the certified record mailed directly to the applicant. I will explain the administrative procedure after identifying the record and issuing office.
What is the difference between an apostille and notarization?
A notarization verifies a signer’s identity and completes a specific notarial act. An apostille authenticates the signature and official capacity of the public official or notary associated with an eligible document for use in another Hague Convention country.

Not every document must be notarized before receiving an apostille. Certified vital records and court documents are generally authenticated based on the signature of the authorized government official who issued or certified the record.
What if the destination country does not accept apostilles?
Documents intended for countries that do not participate in the Hague Apostille Convention may require a longer authentication and legalization process.
Depending on the document, this may include state authentication, U.S. Department of State authentication, and embassy or consulate legalization.
